3 casual ways to rock a teddy coat

Ohhh hey there! Happy Sunday! Today is actually a really beautiful day. The sun is out, the birds are chirping, people are already wearing shorts, spring is that you?? As much as I’m really enjoying the beautiful weather we’re having lately, global warming seems to always creep up at the back of my mind. Like we’re actually in February but it feels like May! That’s just crazy! But anyway you only live once eh? Might as well enjoy the nice weather.

So yeah, this whole beautiful weather thing has really thrown me off, cos I’ve still got like 2 more winter inspired posts that I want to do. But either way, we move! We’re just going to pretend that the weather is much colder than it is, okay? Cool! Since we’re on the same page, let’s crack on with today’s post.

So back in October, I purchased a borg/teddy coat, in anticipation for the blistering cold winter that I thought we would experience. I would say that hands down, it was probably the best purchase I made this winter. I’ve gotten so much use out of it! I’ve been able to we’re it both casually on a day to day basis and also on a night out! It’s very versatile. With such a jacket that is “trendy”, you want to get the most use out of it while it’s still trending, as with all trends, there will be a time when the trend dies down. I literally squeeze all my money’s worth out of it, I wear it almost everyday. My ijebu Dad will be so proud of me! Lmao! So yeah, I’m gonna share with you 3 easy ways to incorporate the borg/teddy coat into simple casual outfits. Elevating them from basic to bawsy!

All Black Everything!

You can never go wrong with an all black look, even though my Nigerian mother will probably disagree! Looool! There’s something very classic about the all black look. Adding the teddy coat on top, just adds the little bit of contrast that an all black look needs. I kept this look super casual with the black hoodie and black mom jeans and a pair of black vans. This look on its own is cute but with the teddy coat, it’s cuter and more stylish! You know what that is? Growth! Loool if you watch Insecure you’ll know where that phrase is from.

 

Sporty Chic!

This look just reminds me of when the paparazzi catch celebs making a trip to their local shop. They always have the most casual sporty outfit underneath but then throw a nice, expensive looking coat on top! Loool. You literally cannot get any more casual than the crew neck jumper with matching jogging bottoms. Throwing the teddy coat on top, automatically elevates the look, you’re casual but still very chic. Who would have thought that marl grey would look so nice on chocolate brown? The 2 colours really complement each other.

Girl Next Door!

This look is basically the basis of any casual outfit. This is what I think of when my friend says we’re dressing casual for an event. A nice top, jeans and a pair of trainers. What really makes this look stand out from the rest, is how the colours bounce off each other. The cream top acts as a neutral base, while the jeans add some warmth and colour to the look. If you’re ever in doubt, go for a cream, blue and brown colour palette. They go really well together!
